My new years resolution as it pertains to Guitar building is to build at least 30 flat top guitars this year. I would be more happy with 40 though. My non guitar new years resolution is to cut down on Mountian dew! MAn I'm addicted to that stuff.. oh the sweet golden nectar of the gods, the green wonder, liquid goodness, better drink some now cause next year I'm cutting WAY back! |

John, I used to love mountain dew. I used to drink one every morning as soon as I got to work. I used to call it sweet morning nectar ![]() Good luck getting off of it, its like quitting smoking! Tracy |

Bob, you can do it Brother! My Wife, Dad, brother, Mother and Sister in laws have all quite in the last 5 years, YOU CAN DO IT! My new years resolution guitar wise is to complete 4 this year, 3 is more likley. Also to continue to work with Brock in making the OLF even more than what it is, with lots of new features and ways to make us all better builders. |

yeah Bob it's easy, I've done it a couple of times now ![]() My new years resolution is to build a new shop with some degree of humidity control, 'cause 15% to 85% in one day is just plain nuts. |

John, IF you are going to build 30+ guitars, you will need every drop of Mountain Dew you can get down your throat. I would suggest a drip IV, cuz I know that's what I'd need. Good luck, Steve |

My new years resolution guitar wise is to be able to build 2 guitars made of reel wood instead of one made with plywood. Since i quit drinkin' beer 3 years ago, i might start drinkin' mountain dew, gettin' tired of coke and pepsi! Cheers everyone |

Mine is to have at least four new instruments completed for labour day. I have commited to a booth at a local folk festival that weekend. This'll be my first time showing my work in public. ...And Write two new (decent) songs. Much easier than quitting Moutain Dew (or smoking) Wish me luck Eh? |

My resolution is to post pictures of my first build before I'm grizzled, and then start (finish?) Nos. 2 & 3, which will be twins, for my sons. Outside of lutherie, I resolve to cut my eating by 90% and stop chewing tobacco. When I started chewing in the 60's, a carton cost $3, today it is about $42 and that doesn't include increased dental bills. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ron |

My new years resolution is to finish the guitar I started for my Grand-daughter. Almost ready to close the box. My non-guitar resolution is to try to locate my sanity after trying to start a business. |
My non-guitar resolution is to try to locate my sanity after trying to start a business.
Gee Doug, That's a tough one, John may be able to go cold turkey on the mountain dew before you find that sanity. Besides, isn't sanity over rated. |

My guitar new years resolution is to complete the finish on two guitars (both are ready to finish) by the time my wife and I have our second child (my wife is due February 9). Don't know if that is going to happen or not, she may be early. Non guitar related, try and get as much sleep as possible before the second baby comes. Gee, #2 contradicts #1 doesn't it. I'm screwed. ![]() |

You know Rod, maybe you're right. It is over rated. Or is that the insanity talking. No, I think it's the sanity, or no maybe it's the Mtn Dew talking. So many options! |

John I have a simple solution to the Mtn Dew, move to the UK we don't have Mtn Dew. Mind you, you will probably become addicted to Tea ![]() |

To build 1 lute, 1 baroque guitar, 1 steel string and 1 classical guitar. Four builds a year is all I can fit in. Russell, there is nothing wrong with being addicted to tea! Pass the tea pot Mabel. Colin |

New year's resolution: finally get my med internships sorted, and hopefully finish the two guitars I've started on, and if I can squeeze in another one, that'd be great. |

I did build 30 guitars last year, and I quit smoking. It sucked. Have fun! ![]() The good news is that on my one year smoke-a-versary a couple of weeks ago, my wife bought me this... ![]() |

My guitar-related New Year's resolutions are to: 1) Get my woodworking shop planned, built, wired, lighted, finished, etc. - and make it tight enough for good humidity control - all from scratch. 2) To outfit my "new" shop with enough power tools, hand tools, forms, jigs, files, clamps, glues, sandpapers, etc. (as I have none) to build a kit guitar. 3) Build the aforementioned Stew-Mac kit guitar. (Come to think of it, I may START smoking...) Happy New Years you guys...I love this place! Bill |

Let's see, this year I would like to: 1. Build three guitars. During the process I would like to choose/finalize/refine the type of neck joint I will use for future builds. 2. Finalize the type/materials of the finish I use, and learn to apply a great finish that I don't have to apologize for all of the little blemishes 3. Make each guitar sound better than the last. Outside of guitar building I'd like to finish my &%#*@ Master's degree, lose 35 lbs, find an old Moto Guzzi motorcycle to restore/ride, and last but not least: slow down and enjoy life more. Happy New Year! |

My guitar-related resolution is to complete the five commissions I have waiting in the queue in a timely manner, with the hopes they will generate more. For some odd reason, people are becoming interested in my guitars. ![]() Best, Michael |

Wow I am glad to see I am not alone with the smoking! Today is my last day of smoking and as far as I am concerned being nice to my customers for a few weeks ![]() My guitar related resolution is the opposite of everyone elses. PUT THE FILE DOWN AND BACK SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE GUITAR!!! I need to take a vacation with my wife soon. I have worked 7 days a week for over a year now. NYC has way too many guitarists ![]() ![]() Happy, Healthy, New Years to all Evan |

I plan to keep my shop cleaner so I can at least walk around and find things. I used to like Cactus Coolers. Now it's Fudgcicles I have to beat but I'm not making any promises. |

(jus' kiddin'...but not by much). Happy New Years. |
